galle fort - photo tour continued ...
Here are some of the photos we took at Galle Fort, the old dutch
rampart.

Galle port:
A long shot taken from the Fort .....
Beyond that, hills of the southern part of the country, and suburb of
Devata.

Fishing boats near the old jetty. This is also a de facto harbor, and a fish
market.
People go fishing in the evening, and come back in the morning.

Fort, as seen from the west end of Galle town.
Here, the sea is a bit deep, and it's not good for bathing. However, it's a
nice place for Yachts.

When Yacht comes in tours, they mostly select this area to anchor.
See the reflection if clouds and spume on the surface ....

Same place ... I added this photo because I liked the steel gray color of
the sea.
The old jetty can be seen in the right side.

A closer view of port's open side. In the background, the Rumassala
mountain, which is famous for bio diversity. People link it to the mythical
Indian story Ramayana.
Some other people believe that Rumassala mountain is formed by an
asteroid.....

There are a lot of nice things to see there..
The brown patch at the shore is an abandoned pearl jetty. There is a small,
but really neat patch of beach there, if you can climb down the hill through
jungle.

Anagarika Dharmapala statue in the public park. He's a nationalist who
fought against imperialism.
The park ends at sea.
